Lawyers for American actor Alec Baldwin called for the removal of the prosecutor in the manslaughter case of cameraman Galina Hutchins on the set of Rust. According to The New York Times, the prosecutor’s name is Andrea Rib. According to the newspaper, she was part of the prosecutor’s group that brought charges against Baldwin under a criminal article. The actor’s defense said that Rib’s simultaneous work as a prosecutor and as a legislator (she is a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives) is unconstitutional.

The accident on the set of Rust happened on October 21, 2021. On set, Alec Baldwin fired his prop revolver, which for some reason was loaded with live ammunition. As a result, cameraman Galina Hutchins died, and the director of the tape, Joel Souza, was also injured. Despite this, in some interviews, Baldwin stated that he did not pull the trigger. The fact that the actor will be prosecuted under a criminal article for murder became known in January of this year.

The New Mexico State Attorney’s Office decided to file a criminal charge against Baldwin. For the crime, he faces up to 18 months in prison or a fine of up to $5,000. The same punishment awaits Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who responded to the weapons used on the set of the film “Rust”.
