Fashion designer Denis Eremkin has urged Russians to buy a yellow coat for autumn, naming the bright garment the main trend of the season. In a report published by Russian news outlet Gazeta.Ru, the specialist explained that yellow dominated recent international runway showcases.
Eremkin reached his recommendation after analyzing fashion trends presented during Fashion Weeks in Milan and Paris for the Autumn/Winter 2026/27 season. He observed that yellow emerged as the primary color tone across Italian and French catwalks, appearing in shades ranging from complex mustard to soft butter hues.
According to the designer, choosing a yellow coat makes a distinct style statement compared to traditional outerwear options. He noted that a coat in yellow is physically harder to ignore than a standard black coat, causing the item to be immediately recognized as a deliberate wardrobe decision rather than something picked at random in the morning.
He added that while popular black coats are widely chosen by consumers due to their everyday practicality, they are rarely selected for aesthetic beauty. In contrast, yellow outerwear offers a striking visual impact that defines a personal look.
Selecting the right shade
Although Eremkin encouraged shoppers to embrace yellow for autumn, he clarified that the color does not suit every skin tone. To determine whether a specific shade complements a person's complexion, he advised holding the garment up to the face under natural daylight. If the skin appears fresher rather than tired, the color is suitable for the wearer.
If mustard tones emphasize facial yellowness or signs of fatigue during daylight testing, Eremkin explained that consumers do not need to abandon yellow entirely. Instead, he recommended moving the yellow shade lower down on the body by choosing yellow skirts or trousers.
Alternatively, shoppers can reserve yellow exclusively for accessories such as handbags and footwear. He explained that using accessories allows the exact same color to function effectively while keeping it at a distance from the face.
Color combinations and seasonal trends
When building an overall outfit around yellow garments, Eremkin advised combining yellow with neutral background shades including gray, beige, sand, and coffee tones. He also identified several deeper colors that pair well with yellow, specifically recommending burgundy, emerald, cobalt, and olive hues to complete the look.
