Singer Lizzo repeated the controversial image of Kim Kardashian and spoke about self-acceptance

34-year-old three-time Grammy winner Lizzo is on the cover of Elle’s September issue. The singer appeared in a non-trivial way – a suit made of scotch tape branded with Balenciaga logos. It seems that this is how Lizzo made a homage to Kim Kardashian, who appeared in an identical outfit at the Balenciaga show, held as part of Paris Fashion Week in March this year. Representatives of the publication said that the creation of a provocative image took two rolls of adhesive tape worth 300 pounds.

For the September issue, Lizzo gave an extended interview as part of the promotion of her new studio album called “Special”. In a dialogue with the publication, the singer, who is distinguished by magnificent forms, spoke about self-acceptance, which she did not immediately come to. At the beginning of her career, she was terribly complex because of her weight.

I think it was self-doubt. Almost all the stars I saw on stage were thin and fair-skinned. And they didn’t look like me. Of course, there were women like Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah. But they were the exception to the rule. And so I always felt that even if the song is great, people won’t want to hear it from me. So I thought that if there were other people on the stage, it would take a little attention away from me,” she admitted.

Over time, Lizzo has become much more confident and now feels completely comfortable in her own body. She perceives bullying in social networks philosophically.

I think I have a very healthy relationship with how I view the digital world. I was born before it was everywhere, before it was an official news source, before it was a must in your career. I grew up just before people were being cyberbullied at school. I don’t need social media, social media needs me. Social networks literally need people to function. I no longer need to go online to feel better. I have a therapist. I have best friends. I have a wonderful team around me that I can talk to. I have love.

Recall that the new full-length album “Special” was released a week ago, on July 15th. On the new record, the singer flirts with different genres from rap and funk to synth-pop, uniting them with a life-affirming concept. The album features 12 tracks co-written by Terrace Martin, Mark Ronson, Ricky Reed, Benny Blanco, Max Martin and Rick Rubin.
