5 shades that betray a cheap outfit: the opinion of a fashion expert

That’s why shades are so important – they often make a cheap outfit, or even worse, make expensive things look high quality. What fashion mistakes should be avoided that have a similar effect, says British fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend, who has been writing about fashion events for 14 years.

If you see the call: “Create a stylish fall look with a fluffy sweater!” – don’t trust him. Yarn “grass” is suitable for fluff, but not for clothes – inexpensive polyester in the composition gives the material shine. Such a sweater is no longer relevant, Clemmie says, and is unlikely to ever return to the fashion radar. If you are looking for a warm “top”, then it is better to pay attention to something thick knitted or woolen.

Chenille, Fieldsend explains, is commonly used for sofa and chair upholstery — this durable fabric is inexpensive and lasts a long time. Chenille clothing shines like “grass”, which will give it a cheap look. If you want to wear something iridescent, then pay attention to velvet, which will look “cozy” and luxurious at the same time.

Holes, scratches and even dirt often inspire designers. Sneakers with permanent stains sell for thousands of dollars, and some designer pieces look like generations of mice have grown up wearing them.

According to Clemmie, worn and dirty things make a person look lazy and sloppy. Any jeans or coat will wear out, and therefore, according to the expert, you should not buy those that initially look shabby.

A brand logo is a great way to show that you have a favorite brand. However, if the image is too large, it will look like you’re showing off or wearing a fake, Fieldsend says. She advises not to overuse logos: place them only on accessories – shoes, a belt or a bag.

Large necklaces and bracelets with large “precious” stones are long out of fashion, Clemmie says, and at the height of their popularity they seemed cheap. Instead, Fieldsend advises wearing minimalist metal jewelry — it makes any outfit look sleek and modern.
