This fashion mistake is made by all women after 40 – and she is very old: the stylist’s opinion

Of course, you already know our position on the “age” wardrobe: we sincerely believe that girls at any period of their life can wear whatever they want – the main thing is to choose clothes in harmony with proportions, status and color type. But there are age-specific fashion mistakes, and this time we’re going to talk about one of the most annoying ones.

Let us modify the legendary quote slightly and say: All ages are subject to fashion failures – regardless of experience, even with the most successful fashionista, blowouts sometimes happen. Because in every period of life, we are often invaded by the same “Wishlist”: in youth, we are attracted to show a rebellious nature, then a crazy thought comes to our minds that the wardrobe lacks sexuality , then one is attracted by something branded … Familiar? And even at forty, when, it seems, your own style is already more or less formed, a typical mistake appears on the horizon …

Jennifer Connolly, “retired stylist” as she calls herself, confirms that she herself faced this problem when she crossed the threshold of the fifth decade. And even her experience did not save her from failure – Jennifer says that she did not immediately notice this bad habit. And it lies in the fact that Connolly… I tried too hard!

Yes, yes, you heard it right: if you are too scrupulous in choosing an outfit and literally messing up every detail, this effort can go wrong for us. When everything in an outfit is too predictable and combined in every little thing, you get the effect of something inanimate, frozen. But your image must on the contrary convey character, revive, rejuvenate!

Such a side effect threatens the look if you overdo it, for example, with helmets. The same earrings, bracelet and necklace are no longer a sign of wealth, but a hint of bad taste. The same applies to a hat, gloves and scarf from a set: they quickly age the image, making it stereotypical, faceless. And your style is immediately lost against the background of typical clothes. It is much better if you combine, for example, silver and gold, or take gloves to match your lipstick and a scarf to match your sweater.

The same goes for prints. If you add, say, one strip and only one strip to a monotonous (and the same everywhere) outfit, that’s a reason to quit. Combining different patterns is a new gesture! Yes, it takes extra time – it’s always worth checking in front of a mirror that your idea looks interesting and not awkward. But it won’t be “naphthalene” – you yourself will see how your clothes will play when you stop trying too hard and achieve perfect “synchronicity” in everything!
