Christos Ferentinos and Katerina Karavatou are in the final stretch of preparations for their debut on Greek public broadcaster ERT1, where they will present the new show Studio 4 for the first time on Monday, September 7, at 3pm. The pair shared some details about the format but kept much of what they have planned for the premiere under wraps.
The duo spoke on ERTnews's programme Without Filter, hosted by Adamantia Lioliou and Velika Karavaltsiou, just days before their first appearance in front of viewers.
Michalis Reppas to be first guest
One of the first details to emerge was the identity of the person who will sit opposite the two hosts on opening day. Michalis Reppas will be the first guest on Studio 4.
Karavatou said final preparations were continuing but stopped short of revealing more about the content of the first episode. She said there was a frenzy of creative work going on in the studio, but that they did not want to give too much away before the show began at 3pm on Monday.
Ferentinos outlined the basic concept behind the show, describing a television journey across different time periods. He said viewers would see how things connect to the present, the past and the future, with the hosts acting as travellers through these different eras.
Karavatou then confirmed Reppas's presence at the launch, saying Michalis would be doing them the honour of being their first guest and that they were delighted about it. Ferentinos spoke warmly about the guest, calling him an outstanding creator and someone the pair hold dear. Karavatou agreed, and Ferentinos added that Reppas was very successful and very well liked, confirming he would be their first guest but that other guests had already been booked for upcoming episodes, with what the hosts described as very good subjects lined up.
Who is Michalis Reppas
Reppas is a longstanding Greek screenwriter and director known for decades of work across Greek television and cinema, often in partnership with fellow writer Thanasis Papathanasiou.
A trip to Thessaloniki before the premiere
Before the studio lights come on for the first episode, the two presenters will travel to Thessaloniki. On Sunday they will make a short trip to visit the Thessaloniki International Fair and the ERT pavilion there.
They are expected to speak about their new television project during the visit, a day before Studio 4 makes its premiere. The Thessaloniki International Fair is an annual trade exhibition held in the northern Greek city and is traditionally used as a platform for public announcements, including by broadcasters and politicians.
The new show continues a title that already has a long history on ERT1. Ferentinos noted that Studio 4 was a much-loved programme that had a brilliant run of five years on the channel, and said he and Karavatou were now the ones taking over that set and that studio.
Their first meeting with viewers is scheduled for Monday, September 7, at 3pm, with the two presenters keeping several of their plans close to the chest until then.
