Russian production company Fora-Cinema has begun filming the spy detective series "Ghost Hunt," working with backing from NMG Studios for the streaming platform Wink and the television channel REN TV.
The story is set in the city of Gomel in 1951. According to the plot, the director of a secret defense factory, named Lukyanov, is murdered, and the chief suspect is his own younger son.
The investigation is handed to Kirill Setov, an experienced major with the MGB, the Soviet security agency of the period. Setov quickly realizes that Lukyanov's killing is only part of a far more complex operation.

The series is directed by Alexei Muradov. Its cast includes Linda Lapinsh, Maxim Litovchenko, Nikolai Kozak, Soslan Fidarov, Maxim Konovalov and Andrei Lavrov, among others.
Background
Gomel is Belarus's second-largest city, situated in the country's southeast near the borders with Russia and Ukraine. In 1951 it was part of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic within the Soviet Union. Gomel remains an important administrative centre in Belarus today.
The MGB, or Ministry for State Security, was the Soviet Union's security and intelligence service in the years after the Second World War, operating during the final years of Joseph Stalin's rule. It was formed in 1946 and later reorganized into the KGB in 1954.
Wink is a streaming platform operated by the Russian telecommunications company Rostelecom, while REN TV is a federal Russian television channel. NMG Studios is part of National Media Group, one of Russia's largest media holdings. REN TV broadcasts nationally across Russia and carries a mix of drama series, films and news programming. Wink has grown into one of the leading video streaming services in Russia since its launch.
