Bruna Griphao, Ticiane Pinheiro and Rita Guedes have been sent to the repechage round of Dança dos Famosos after landing in the danger zone on Sunday, October 25.
The three contestants fell into the bottom places following the Group 2 performances on Domingão com Huck, the Sunday variety programme broadcast by Brazilian television network TV Globo. Final standings for the round were determined by combining scores from the studio judging panels, the live studio audience and viewers voting online through the gshow entertainment portal.
In the Group 2 line-up, actress Bruna Griphao performed alongside professional partner Lucas Teo, television presenter Ticiane Pinheiro danced with Fernando Perrotti, and actress Rita Guedes was paired with Jefferson Bilisco. Under the competition rules, contestants who finish in the danger zone must compete in the repechage round for a chance to reclaim their place in the main contest.
Perfect scores on international rock night
Sunday's broadcast featured choreography inspired by international rock classics, with arrangements built around well-known global hits. Two couples topped the leaderboard after earning the maximum score of 10 from every member of the judging panel.
Breno Ferreira and his professional partner Jaque Paraense secured a clean sweep of tens with a rock-arranged routine set to Shape of You, the hit song originally recorded by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Diego Martins and partner Mayara Araújo matched that feat, earning top marks from all judges for their performance to American Idiot, the signature punk rock track by American band Green Day.
Elsewhere in the Group 2 line-up, Mell Muzzillo and professional dancer Davi Norton took to the floor with a rock version of Livin' La Vida Loca, the Latin pop classic popularised by Ricky Martin.
Judges' scores for the danger zone couples
Despite landing in the bottom three once audience and online votes were tallied, the danger zone contestants still drew strong marks from the panel. Pinheiro and Perrotti danced to an arrangement of Pharrell Williams's Happy, while Griphao and Teo performed to a rock version of Take on Me, originally a hit for Norwegian group a-ha. Guedes and Bilisco performed their routine to Last Nite by American rock band The Strokes.
Both the Pinheiro and Griphao partnerships received perfect scores of 10 from guest artistic judges José Loreto and Nanda Marques, alongside marks ranging between 9.8 and 9.9 from the four-member technical jury. The technical panel comprised carnival commentator and stage designer Milton Cunha, ballroom choreographer Carlinhos de Jesus, acclaimed Brazilian prima ballerina Ana Botafogo and veteran choreographer Zebrinha.
Gabi Cardoso pregnancy announcement and Xuxa cameo
Beyond the Group 2 leaderboard, the episode included a personal milestone from professional dancer Gabi Cardoso, who serves as the instructor and partner to contestant Lucas Guedez in the competition. Cardoso announced during the broadcast that she is 12 weeks pregnant and confirmed that she will continue performing on the show under medical supervision.
Veteran Brazilian television presenter and singer Xuxa Meneghel also made a special appearance via video call ahead of the routine by her husband, actor and musician Junno Andrade. Calling him by her affectionate nickname Txutxucão, Meneghel said that she had to watch him perform and urged him to stay calm, breathe deeply, think positively and return home in one piece, adding that everything would go well.
