Heather Graham stuns in sheer lace at movie premiere

Heather Graham attended the Fantastic Fest premiere of her new horror film, What Happened to Doris?, wearing a sheer black lace dress on Sunday.

The 56-year-old actress appeared on the red carpet at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar theater in Austin, Texas. She showcased her toned physique in the revealing black garment, which clearly displayed her black lingerie underneath.

Fantastic Fest operates as the largest genre film festival in the United States, specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi and action movies. Founded in 2005, the festival has built a reputation for premiering highly anticipated genre titles and hosting secret screenings. The Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar serves as the traditional hub for the annual September event, drawing film fans, critics and industry professionals from around the world to Austin.

Graham wore a minimal and dewy makeup look that highlighted her natural beauty. The actress, widely recognized for her breakthrough role as Rollergirl in the 1997 film Boogie Nights and her comedic turn in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, styled her honey blond hair in soft curls. The tresses cascaded across her shoulders and down her back.

She chose to attend the Sunday premiere without any jewelry or accessories. This styling decision kept the primary visual focus on her statement-making sheer dress.

Graham recently spent time in France, where she was filming the fourth season of the television series The White Lotus. The popular HBO anthology series, created by writer and director Mike White, explores the complex and often dark dynamics between wealthy vacationers and the eccentric staff at a fictional chain of luxury resorts. Previous seasons of the critically acclaimed comedy drama have been set in exclusive locations such as Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand.

New horror film

Her latest acting project, What Happened to Doris?, is a horror flick set in the suburbs of Los Angeles in 1974. The movie follows a single mother who begins experiencing violent attacks by an invisible entity.

According to the official synopsis, the mother seeks help from paranormal investigators when no one in her community believes her claims. This desperate decision sparks a notorious and documented supernatural case.

What Happened to Doris? will make its wide release when it premieres in theaters on Thursday, October 1.

Cosmetic procedures

The red carpet appearance follows a candid interview Graham gave to US Weekly in March, where she opened up about her beauty secrets. During the discussion, she revealed her thoughts on cosmetic procedures and detailed the exact treatments she utilizes to maintain her youthful appearance.

Graham admitted that she strongly prefers less invasive approaches to cosmetic maintenance. The actress claimed she has not gone under the knife, though she noted that she remains open to the idea of traditional plastic surgery in the future.

"I've never had an actual operation where they're cutting my face open," Graham said. "But I don't know if [when] I get older, I wouldn't completely rule it out. Who knows."

She told the publication that she does not want to become "one of those people that got it and look freaky." Instead, the star has taken advantage of a variety of non-surgical cosmetic options over the years.

"But I've tried microneedling, Botox... and a bunch of lasery things," she said. Microneedling is a dermatological procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles to stimulate collagen production. Botox refers to a popular brand of neuromodulator injections that temporarily paralyze specific facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Laser treatments

Graham specified that she has undergone several advanced skin treatments, including Ultherapy, Thermage, Sofwave and Morpheus8 procedures.

Ultherapy uses micro-focused ultrasound energy to lift and tighten skin on the neck, chin and brow without surgery. Thermage relies on radiofrequency technology to smooth, contour and temporarily improve the appearance of aging skin. Sofwave also utilizes ultrasound beams to remodel tissue and stimulate the production of new collagen beneath the skin surface. Morpheus8 combines traditional microneedling techniques with localized radiofrequency energy to penetrate deeper into the subdermal tissue, targeting wrinkles and skin elasticity.

"I'm happy there are these halfway steps," she said regarding the modern cosmetic landscape. "You can do something, but you don't have to do some huge thing."

Despite appreciating the final results, Graham admitted that some of the actual treatments are not pleasant to experience.

"Some of those laser treatments are torture," she said. "Like, an hour and a half of your face getting blasted."

She explained that she previously used dermal fillers but eventually stopped getting them because she simply did not want to anymore. Injectable fillers are soft tissue gels inserted beneath the surface of the skin to restore lost volume and smooth deep creases.

"I stopped getting [filler] because I just didn't want [to anymore]. I'm more into the laser treatments now," Graham added. She went on to reiterate that her primary objective is to maintain a natural look.

"I feel like some people get facelifts and they just kind of end up looking like... I mean, there are people that get it, and it's good," she said. "But I just don't want to be one of those people that got it and look freaky."

Natural aging

The Killing Me Softly star also spoke about the psychological benefits of embracing the aging process naturally, rather than fighting it aggressively with drastic surgical interventions.

"I think it looks better to be getting slightly older than looking like you had some kind of weird plastic surgery," Graham said. "I think it's great that now we have a middle ground."

Beyond professional clinical treatments, Graham shared that regular consistency in her daily routine is more important than any single specific procedure. She credited her overall appearance and well-being to getting enough sleep every night, practicing meditation, maintaining a balanced diet and adhering to a gentler version of intermittent fasting.

Intermittent fasting is a dietary strategy that cycles between periods of voluntary fasting and non-fasting. Many proponents use the method for weight management, improved metabolic health and cellular repair.

Above all, Graham emphasized that she prioritizes her personal health and daily self-care routines over her successful, decades-spanning career in Hollywood. The actress first rose to prominence in the late 1980s with roles in films like Drugstore Cowboy. She has since maintained a steady acting presence in both independent cinema and major studio releases over the past four decades.

"Career is important, but if you don't have your health, you don't have anything," she said. "I'm lucky to be alive and healthy. That's No. 1, over my career and over everything else."
