A 32-year-old woman named Serena Dolnich attacked her father with a knife and cut out his heart at their home in Indiana, People magazine reported.
Police arrived at the house where Dolnich lived with her 58-year-old father, Gregory Dolnich, after relatives called for help. The relatives said the man had stopped answering calls and that his daughter made strange statements instead of putting him on the phone. The woman's boyfriend said he had seen her covered in blood.
What officers found inside
Officers looked through a window and saw a man on the floor covered in dried blood. They broke down the door and forced their way inside. The man had wounds to his head, arms and forearms, and his chest had been cut open. His heart had been removed and placed on his stomach.
Officers found Serena in one of the bedrooms. She was wearing a tank top, no pants, and was covered in blood. She was detained and taken to a hospital. Three bloody knives were also found in the house.
What Serena told police
During questioning, Serena said she had spent the day watching television and that she and her father got along well. She remains in custody.
