Actor Jaafar Jackson has shared production details for the second part of the biographical film Michael, confirming the sequel will address child abuse allegations.
Production on the second instalment will begin soon following the official announcement of the project. The first part of Michael broke box office records to become the highest-grossing biographical film in global cinema history.
Although Jackson has no influence on the script, he said he wants to present a truthful story about his legendary relative. He explained that filmmakers plan to highlight the controversial topic of child abuse allegations in the upcoming picture.
Speaking to GQ Middle East, Jackson said the narrative surrounding the accusations belonged to someone else and was largely driven by outside motives. He stated that the primary challenge for the family is ensuring Michael Jackson's own voice is heard, especially regarding his later years.
Portrayal and release timeline
Jackson expressed hope that his performance will allow audiences to gain a deeper understanding of the late singer and his life circumstances. He said his uncle never lost his desire to find goodness in others, remaining kind despite how he was treated or what was said about him.
He added that although the musician was emotionally broken, his heart remained unchanged, expressing hope that viewers will feel that sentiment in the movie.
