Jack, 38, appeared in high spirits with his growing new hairdo just two months after his third procedure.

The actor, who plays David Platt in the ITV soap, has previously undergone the surgical procedure twice before, firstly in 2018 and then the second just a year later in December 2019

He was joined on set by his onscreen sister Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Platt. Tina wore a pink suit as she filmed murder trial scenes after her character was revealed as the killer of Theo Silverton.

Viewers learned last month that scaffolder Theo, played by James Cartwright, died after months of abusive behaviour towards his husband Todd, played by Gareth Pierce. Fans knew he had died, but who was responsible for his death remained a mystery before it was revealed to be Sarah.

The reveal behind the transplant

Jack explained that most people assume you get one hair transplant and that's it, but baldness keeps progressing over time. He said he had procedures in 2018, 2019 and now, mainly on the front and in sections.

Ben Price, 54, who plays Jack's onscreen brother Nick Tilsley, asked him if he'd literally just had it done. Jack replied that he'd had it done the day before, calling it "day one."

Before changing into a pink suit for her court scenes, Tina arrived in pale yellow shorts and a white vest top

Ben then asked if it was time for the big reveal, and Jack agreed they should do it.

The big reveal on set

As Colson Smith, 27, who previously played Craig Tinker in the soap, offered a drum roll, Jack removed his baseball cap to show off his shaved head. Turning his head to show his slightly bloodied scalp, he told his co-stars it was a shock.

Colson said he thought it was a look and that he quite liked it, while Ben appeared lost for words. Noticing his friend's reaction, Jack said Ben looked stunned, and Ben burst out laughing and said, "My word!"

Jack then endured some ribbing from his co-stars, who compared him to Megamind, before Ben decided he didn't think Jack looked that bad and could get used to him looking that way.

Timing the procedure around paternity leave

Asked if it was a big decision to go through with the procedure, Jack said he could see the hair loss progressing further back in the middle, so he decided to act while he could. He had time off for the arrival of his baby, which he said made the timing perfect.

Colson joked about the combination of paternity leave and a hair transplant, and Jack agreed, calling it quite a month. Jack went on to admit that his wife, Hanni, wasn't entirely happy about the timing, as she was worried about how the pictures would look once their child arrives.
