James Brayshaw to Miss Son Henry's $180,000 Wedding

Sporting commentator James Brayshaw will not attend the upcoming Gold Coast wedding of his son Henry Brayshaw and adult content creator Annie Knight.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, the 29-year-old social media star confirmed that her future father-in-law will be absent from the lavish ceremony in October after receiving no invitation.

The couple revealed that the family estrangement is not a sudden development, as Henry and his father have not maintained a relationship or spoken to each other for three or four years.

Annie Knight has revealed why her fiancé Henry Brayshaw's father, James Brayshaw, will not be attending their upcoming wedding

"Henry and he haven't had a relationship for a few years, so it is not a shock to us," Knight said. "To be fair, we didn't actually send him an invite."

Knight recalled meeting the veteran broadcaster only once several years ago when she and Henry were strictly friends, long before their relationship became romantic. They got engaged about 18 months ago, and Knight noted she has not seen James since she and Henry began dating.

"I met him once years ago when Henry and I were just friends," Knight added. "I have not seen him since we got together. They haven't spoken in about three or four years, and we got engaged about 18 months ago!"

Family rift and uninvited guest

Knight clarified that her work as an adult content creator was not the reason for the family distance. She noted that James has remained silent about their relationship in public.

"[James] hasn't said a whole lot about anything, which is probably for the best!" Knight continued, noting that her future father-in-law has never publicly commented on the family situation.

James Brayshaw is a prominent Australian sports commentator and media personality, known for his work across television and radio broadcasts, as well as his former career in domestic cricket.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Annie said the family rift is nothing new, revealing Henry has not had a relationship with his father for several years

Rising wedding costs and gown savings

The family revelation arrives as Knight and Brayshaw prepare for an increasingly expensive ceremony, with the total budget now reaching $180,000 following recent price increases.

"It is $180,000 now, it has gone up! But we are capping it there, there's no more spending after that!" Knight told the Daily Mail regarding the mounting expenses for their Gold Coast celebration.

Despite the high total cost, Knight managed to save money on her wedding dress after finding a gown priced well below her initial target. She originally set aside $40,000 for her outfit but chose a $12,000 dress at a boutique instead.

"My wedding dress budget was $40,000... but I ended up falling in love with one that was $12,000," Knight laughed. "I was looking at $40,000 dresses but fell for a cheaper one at a boutique! I ended up accidentally saving money!"

Guest list cuts and relationship struggles

While spending heavily on the event, Knight has taken a strict approach to the guest list, recently removing two bridesmaids from the ceremony.

The influencer said she axed the pair after discovering they had been speaking negatively about her and Henry behind their backs despite previously being considered close friends.

The family revelation comes as Annie prepares for a wedding with a growing price tag, with costs now reaching a staggering $180,000

"I am a very trusting person who has learned to be less trusting as time goes on," Knight explained. "Unfortunately, these two people had been talking pretty poorly about me and my fiancé behind our backs."

"It's super upsetting, because we thought of them as our closest, best friends! We thought we could trust them! We thought they were loyal... so when we found out we just cut them loose... they are not coming to our wedding!" she added.

The upcoming nuptials follow a challenging period for the couple, during which they worked through Henry's gambling addiction and significant personal debt.

The couple got engaged in March last year after Henry proposed during a romantic dinner, gifting Knight an oval-shaped diamond engagement ring estimated to be worth up to $200,000.

In June, Knight revealed the budget stood at $170,000, including $60,000 for the venue, $10,000 for photography and videography, $7,000 for groomsmen outfits, $4,000 for hair and makeup, $3,000 for bridesmaids dresses, and $2,700 for social media content. The latest $10,000 increase makes the event roughly five times the average Australian wedding cost of $35,000.
