Director James Cameron has announced his intention to finish his career with a final act that may not be connected to the Avatar franchise, World of Reel reported. Cameron emphasized that his primary question is what stories he wants to tell next, formulating his main selection criterion as what will bring the greatest benefit. He stated that he is currently in the planning stage of his final act and does not know whether it will last one year or 20 years.
World of Reel noted that Cameron's rhetoric has shifted in recent months. While he considered filming Avatar 4 possible at the start of the year, he now speaks more frequently about costs and scale. He admitted that the franchise films have become too large in scale, expensive, and time-consuming.
Future movie concepts
Cameron is currently considering several projects, including Ghosts of Hiroshima and previously mentioned ideas such as Avatar 4, Avatar 5, Devils, Alita 2, Fantastic Voyage, and Terminator 6. According to the director, he is working through about 10 different concepts. The outlet previously reported that a Titanic star recalled 50 people being drugged on set.
