Jenna Ortega has turned award show carpets, television appearances, movie premieres and fashion week runways into a showcase for her gothic-inspired sense of style, favoring dramatic silhouettes, dark hues and eye-catching designers such as Givenchy, Grace Ling and Dilara Findikoglu.

The 23-year-old actress is best known for starring as the title character in Netflix's Wednesday and for appearing in the Scream horror film franchise. Her fashion choices at the Emmy Awards, the Golden Globes, Paris Fashion Week and beyond have made her one of the most closely watched dressers in Hollywood.

A 30-Pound Givenchy Gown at the Emmys
At the 2025 Emmy Awards, Ortega wore a Givenchy top adorned with multi-colored jewels that weighed at least 30 pounds, according to her longtime stylist, Enrique Melendez. Heavy as it was, Ortega was up for the challenge Melendez set for her that night.

"She was like, 'Enrique, I love you. But can we please do something more practical next time?' Because it was heavy," Melendez said on the Plus One podcast in September 2025. "That thing was digging into her poor collarbone."
An Elaborate Metallic Breastplate
One month later, Ortega stepped out at the Academy Museum Gala in a leaf-shaped metallic breastplate by designer Grace Ling. Melendez, who has worked with Ortega since 2014, said he wasn't sure how the look would come together until the night of the event.

"Even up to the night of the event, we worried it was too similar to the Emmys look, because it was a hardware top and column skirt," he told Marie Claire in December 2025. "I was losing sleep over it, because I didn't want her to feel like she's wearing [the same thing] back to back."
Melendez ultimately gave the ensemble two snaps of approval, adding that once Ortega walked onto the carpet, he knew they had made the right decision.

Leaning Into the Dark Side
Ortega kept her signature dark palette alive in August 2025, wearing an all-black Ann Démérémeester gown with leather panels along the skirt to a Wednesday screening in New York City. She carried the gothic theme into the new year, choosing a Dilara Findikoglu gown adorned with beaded shoulder fringes for the 2026 Golden Globes in January.

"I've always respected goth culture," Ortega told Vogue in 2023. "I've always had a darker sense of humor, but I never felt like I was able to express that. Now I feel like I can embrace those qualities in myself."
Not Afraid of Color
Despite her reputation for dark ensembles, Ortega doesn't limit herself to black. At the InStyle Imagemaker Awards in October 2025, she wore a lilac Amiri gown paired with a maroon wool shawl. Months later, at the 2026 Actor Awards in March, she opted for a cream-colored Christian Cowan lace dress.

"I am in a great phase of exploration in my life right now," Ortega told Vogue in April 2025. "I don't want to feel married to any one thing. When you have the opportunity to play, why don't you?"
