Hollywood actor Jesse Eisenberg survived a mass Russian missile strike during a secret visit to Ukraine, he said in a report by Ukrainian broadcaster TSN.
Eisenberg, known for Now You See Me and The Social Network, traveled to a village in the Lviv region near the Polish border to take part in The Campfire Project, a charity that supports children affected by the war.
He led a series of acting workshops for Ukrainian children. To work freely with written materials during the sessions, he spent a year ahead of the trip learning the Cyrillic alphabet.
Speaking about the night of the attack, Eisenberg said sirens woke him and his group and they went down to a shelter. He said that by morning, when he saw news of the strike’s aftermath, he was shocked. He described the experience as devastating, horrifying, outrageous, and tragic, and said it made him think about what it would feel like if his own home city of New York were bombed, because Lviv reminded him strongly of the city where he lives.
