Newly crowned Miss World Joheirry Mola has received a congratulatory telephone call from former titleholder Mariasela Alvarez in a symbolic handover for Dominican beauty queens.

The long-distance telephone conversation was placed from Vietnam and included Julia Morley, the president of the Miss World Organization, alongside Dianny Mota, the national director of Miss World Dominicana.

Alvarez shared details of the emotional encounter on her official social media accounts, expressing her excitement at hearing the voice of Morley again and describing her as a true institution of beauty with a purpose.

According to Alvarez, Morley expressed her deep satisfaction with the choice of Mola as the new international titleholder. Morley also conveyed her desire for the Dominican Republic to give Mola the homecoming reception she deserved and shared her enthusiasm for visiting the Caribbean country once again.

Generational Handover and Personal Impression

Alvarez explained that the most meaningful moment of the phone call arrived when she spoke directly with Mola. Within just a few minutes of dialogue, Alvarez said she confirmed the glowing impression that Mota had shared with her on the night of Mola's victory.

Alvarez praised Mola as a sweet, humble, authentic and intelligent young woman with immense sensitivity. The seasoned broadcaster noted that these genuine character traits helped explain the warmth and affection Mola inspired among her fellow contestants during the international competition.

Dominican History at Miss World

The coronation of Mola represents a major milestone for the Dominican Republic, marking only the second time a candidate from the island nation has won the Miss World title. Alvarez secured the country's first crown more than four decades ago in 1982 before building a successful career as an architect and television presenter.

Located in the Greater Antilles region of the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti and has a rich tradition of participating in global beauty contests. The Miss World pageant, established in the United Kingdom in 1951, ranks among the oldest international beauty pageants in the world.

Morley took charge of the Miss World Organization following the death of founder Eric Morley, establishing the Beauty With a Purpose initiative that raises millions of dollars for global humanitarian projects. Her personal participation in the call underscored the historic connection between the organization and the Dominican Republic's two global titleholders.

National Pride and Return Home

Concluding her public statement, Alvarez offered heartfelt thanks to Mola for representing their homeland with distinction on the international stage. Alvarez assured the new queen that the Dominican people were immensely proud of her triumph and were waiting to welcome her back with open arms.

Following her victory, Mola dedicated her crown to the Dominican Republic, stating that she felt the support of her entire country throughout her journey in Vietnam as she prepares to return home for official celebrations.
