Speaking in an interview with Brazilian news network CNN Brasil, Furtado explained that both screen projects share a strikingly similar tone while examining the erotic content industry as a modern means of earning a living. He added that the theme is highly relevant to contemporary audiences.
The director pointed to close narrative parallels between the two works. In Margot Has Money Troubles, the main character becomes pregnant by her university professor and turns to producing adult content online to pay her bills and support her young child.
A similar economic crisis drives the plot of Muito Prazer. The story follows Grace, a motel manager portrayed by Luísa Arraes, who faces severe financial collapse. To keep her business afloat, Grace decides to digitally insert her face onto pornographic videos recorded illegally with guests staying at her motel.
Furtado emphasized that neither character should be viewed as engaging in prostitution. He noted that Margot produces erotic content strictly to support her family, explaining that people facing basic survival needs must do what is necessary to pay their expenses and put food on the table. He added that Grace similarly defends herself in the film by stating that she never performed in an erotic movie, having only edited her face onto existing footage.
