Pop singer Justin Timberlake made a surprise stage appearance alongside rapper Don Toliver during a concert in Miami, Florida, on August 22.
The 45-year-old performer joined Toliver on stage at his Octane World Tour show to perform Timberlake's 2002 hit song Rock Your Body. It marked the Grammy winner's first live performance in nearly seven months.
Timberlake later shared details about the spontaneous moment on social media, posting a compilation video to Instagram on August 23 with the caption, "I just wanted to watch the show from the VIP."
Surprise guest on the Octane tour
The Instagram footage opened with Timberlake watching the concert from the VIP section of the venue. The video then cut to a SpongeBob SquarePants title card with the show's familiar audio voiceover announcing, "A few moments later."
Unbeknownst to concertgoers in attendance, Toliver was on stage dancing to Rock Your Body before Timberlake made his unannounced entry. Toliver samples the 2002 track in his song Body, which appears on his latest studio album, Octane.
Dressed in a cream-colored T-shirt, baggy black pants, a khaki baseball hat, and sunglasses, Timberlake stepped out onto the stage to massive cheers from the crowd. Supported by singing fans, he performed Rock Your Body while Toliver danced alongside him.
Timberlake remained on stage following the duet to assist Toliver with his performance of Body. Addressing the audience during the appearance, the former NSYNC member joked, "I just wanted to watch the show from the VIP!"
First performance since January
The Miami concert appearance represents Timberlake's first time on stage since January 2026, when he performed at the Recording Academy Honors. That event paid tribute to his longtime friend and musical collaborator Pharrell Williams, who famously co-produced much of Timberlake's early solo material.
The show also marked Timberlake's first concert performance since disclosing his diagnosis of Lyme disease. Timberlake, who shares sons Silas, 11, and Phineas, 6, with his wife, actress Jessica Biel, revealed his health battle following the conclusion of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour in July 2025.
Lyme disease is a vector-borne bacterial infection transmitted through tick bites that can cause severe physical symptoms, including nerve pain, joint swelling, and extreme fatigue.
Health battles and stage return
Writing on Instagram in July 2025 after wrapping his tour, Timberlake explained his diagnosis to fans. "Among other things, I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which I don’t say so you feel bad for me," he wrote at the time. "But to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes."
Despite experiencing severe discomfort while touring, Timberlake elected to finish his scheduled performance dates. He revealed that he suffered from "a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness" throughout the concert run.
However, the singer expressed gratitude for completing the tour despite his health obstacles. "I decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling," Timberlake wrote. "I’m so glad I kept going."
