Katie Price stops bottom filler over fears she could die

Former glamour model Katie Price has stopped getting cosmetic filler in her bottom and ruled out future implants due to fears she could die.

The 48-year-old television personality, who has undergone six facelifts, 17 breast augmentations, dental work, and a fox eye operation, confirmed she will no longer make tweakments to her bottom or undergo a Brazilian butt lift (BBL).

Speaking on the Andrew Gold Heretics podcast on Thursday, Price discussed the health risks surrounding cosmetic surgery and explained why she canceled a planned procedure for bottom implants.

"I so want to get my implants," Price confessed during the podcast appearance. "I've booked it in then haven't because so many people said, 'Kate, don't do implants in your bottom.' So, I haven't. I have actually listened because for that one people die."

Price confirmed she had previously received filler in her bottom, but explained that she has decided to stop receiving the injections permanently.

"I've had filler in it, but the filler does not last me the same as my lips," Price said. "I don't know if it's my high metabolism but it never lasts on me. So, I've had the filler in the bum, but I've stopped it now because I've heard of so many people dying doing it that I'm not even doing that now because I'm like, nah."

Risks of cosmetic procedures

When host Andrew Gold asked about the potential for infections during surgery, Price warned that complications can affect anyone.

"It can happen to anyone for your body could just reject it," Price said. "And I think everyone when it's easy now on Instagram, you can see before and after ops and a lot of people airbrush the bit after to make it look good."

She added that social media often hides the difficult recovery period following plastic surgery procedures.

"But people don't realise you've got that bit in between that isn't nice and you just got to trust the process," Price said. "But every time you're under the knife, anything can go wrong. Like it doesn't mean to say if you do your face it's going to heal well. There's always a risk with everything."

Surgery costs and free treatments

The revelation follows Price's disclosure that she has spent only £40,000 of her own money on cosmetic procedures over the years, despite going under the knife about 40 times.

Price discussed her surgery costs while talking with Olivia Attwood on the latest series of ITV's Price Of Perfection, a show that investigates celebrity plastic surgery.

Although Price received many free procedures due to her fame, she insisted that she would be able to pay for them if she wanted to.

During their on-screen discussion, Attwood asked Price how many total surgeries she had undergone. Price replied, "Oh my god, that's really hard. Maybe about 30 or 40? I must have done."

When Attwood noted that Price had received a mixture of free and paid procedures over the years, Price stated, "I've probably paid £40,000 all in."

Attwood expressed shock, asking, "In total? Is that it?" Price hit back, "I could pay for it if I wanted to get it done."

Family concerns and body dysmorphia

Price also spoke about her family's long-standing concerns regarding her frequent cosmetic operations.

"For 30 years, everyone has been, 'You don’t need this, you don’t need that,' but if I wanna do it, I am doing it anyway," Price said. "I do listen to surgeons now because if every surgeon did what I wanted, I'd look more like a freak of nature. I don't want to look freaky!"

She emotionally admitted that her appearance has sometimes caused distress: "There have been times where I've thought 'Kate, people are not looking at you because you look good, they're looking because you look like a f****** alien or puffer fish.'"

Her mother, Amy Price, has been vocal about her daughter's procedures and claimed in 2023 that the star suffers from body dysmorphia, a condition where a person obsessively worries about apparent flaws in their appearance.

Price acknowledged that her mother's assessment was correct after years of denial.

"I've always said I haven't got body dysmorphia for years because I didn't think I did," Price admitted. "But I've realised I do have body dysmorphia because I look in the mirror as I do now and think I don't like what I see and I'm going to change something. I don't know what I get out of it, I need to know that I'm happy when I look in the mirror and I'm so not."

She added that she has never felt comfortable with her looks: "I'd love to know what I'd look like if I never had surgery. I'll never know!"

Price has undergone numerous procedures since beginning her surgery journey 21 years ago:

• 1998: Underwent a breast augmentation taking her from a natural B cup to a C cup, and had her first liposuction.
• 1999: Had two more boob jobs in the same year, moving from a C cup to a D cup, and then to an F cup.
• 2006: Underwent surgery to increase her breast size to a G cup.
• 2007: Underwent a rhinoplasty and had veneers fitted on her teeth.
• 2008: Reduced her breasts from an F cup to a C cup.
• 2011: Returned to an F cup while undergoing body-contouring treatment alongside cheek and lip fillers.
• 2014-2015: Had her breast implants removed following a severe infection.
• 2016: Opted for larger breasts again with a new set of implants, along with Botox and lip fillers.
• 2017: Underwent an eighth boob job to reach a GG cup, replaced her veneers, and suffered a disastrous threading facelift.
• 2018: Underwent another facelift operation.
• 2019: Traveled to Turkey for a face, eye, and eyelid lift, a Brazilian bum lift, and a tummy tuck.
• 2020: Traveled to Belgium for her 12th boob job to correct a botched surgery.
• 2021: Completed a full body overhaul featuring eye and lip lifts, chin liposuction, full body liposuction, and fat injections into her bottom.
• 2022: Underwent another brow and eye lift, as well as her biggest boob job ever in Belgium.
• 2024: Traveled to Turkey for facial surgery after missing a bankruptcy hearing.
