Kim Kardashian posted bikini photos from a lake trip on Instagram Thursday, captioning the carousel "lakemaxxing," as news emerged she had quietly resolved a legal dispute with a man she once misidentified as a death row inmate.
The 45-year-old SKIMS founder wore a stringy black two-piece in multiple shots, including one on a paddle board and another posing with a blonde puppy. Her 14-year-old niece Penelope Disick and eight-year-old daughter Chicago also appeared in the post, which was approaching one million likes from her 344 million followers.
The Legal Settlement
Kardashian agreed to waive $167,000 in legal fees owed to her by Ivan Cantu after his lawsuit against her was dismissed, according to TMZ. A legal representative for Kardashian said the two parties have since resolved the matter privately.
"This is a lawsuit that should never have been filed," the representative said. "The Court agreed and threw it out and ordered that [Ivan] pay Kim's legal fees. Kim agreed to waive those fees and so [Ivan] has dismissed his case with prejudice."

How the Dispute Started
In February 2024, Kardashian posted an image of Cantu on social media while trying to draw attention to a death row inmate who shared his name. The post was part of what her attorneys described as her longstanding commitment to criminal justice reform. They told the Daily Mail the mix-up was a "simple mistake" and that the image was removed almost immediately after the error was discovered.
Cantu sued Kardashian in February 2025, claiming she had published false information that injured his reputation and caused him anxiety and depression. He argued she had "labeled him a criminal to her 350+ million followers at a very sensitive time in his life."
He also noted in his filing that Kardashian was "born and raised in great wealth and luxury" and questioned why she sought repayment of legal fees given her financial status, a position that drew public criticism at the time.
A Family Tribute
Kardashian's lake post followed one shared four days earlier honoring her late grandmother MJ Campbell, who died in mid-July at age 91. The tribute was posted on what would have been Campbell's 92nd birthday.
