Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, have secretly welcomed their first child together, Page Six confirmed after the 40-year-old pop star was photographed cradling a newborn baby.

Few details about the baby have been released, but the photographs confirmed that the singer, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is now a mother. She got engaged to Polansky in April 2024.

Looking back, Gaga's behavior in recent months offered several clues that a baby was on the way.
Months away from the stage
Gaga's most recent tour, The Mayhem Ball, ran for more than a year, from its debut on April 11, 2025, at Coachella to its final show on April 13, 2026, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The singer-songwriter has steered clear of the stage ever since the tour wrapped, suggesting she may have been occupied with other matters. Gaga also held a Las Vegas residency that debuted in 2018 and continued on and off until 2024, even as she periodically paused it to tour.

A change in hair and a final public appearance
One of Gaga's last red-carpet events came on April 20, 2026, when she wore an elegant little black dress to the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 at Lincoln Center in Manhattan.

Nearly a month passed before her most recent public appearance to date, on May 14, at the premiere of Apple Music Live: Mayhem Requiem.

The event, held at The Grove in Los Angeles, marked the debut of a concert documentary filmed at a performance on January 14, 2026, at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles.

At the premiere, Gaga appeared to signal a personal change, ditching her now-standard blond hair for long, dark tresses. She then retreated from public view for months.
Friends left in the dark
One source told the Daily Mail that even Gaga's friends had been kept out of the loop about her disappearance. "No one has seen her or heard from her in over a month," the insider said. "Everyone in her circle thinks she eloped with Michael and is on her honeymoon now, trying to make a baby."
Hiding out in Marin County
Sources told the Daily Mail earlier this month that Gaga and Polansky had been lying low in Marin County, in Northern California, where the singer bought a $10 million home. "There are tons of Lady Gaga sightings all over Marin, and everyone loves her; she has become a local," one resident said.
Most of those sightings never became public, apart from one encounter in August with a fan who posted a beaming selfie with Gaga to Instagram.

A nearly silent social media account
Gaga has also largely stepped away from social media in recent months. After a burst of posts promoting her Mayhem Ball tour concert film in May, she went quiet except for three Instagram posts.
One, on August 21, publicized her skin-health research venture, Outer Bio. The next, on August 25, was a ghostly, washed-out Polaroid-style photo of Gaga in a white top with long blond hair reaching to her midriff, shared without comment.
Her last public post came on September 3, a commentary-free makeup tutorial video showing her applying concealer, contour and lip liner. Absent from her accounts was any behind-the-scenes glimpse of her personal life, once a staple of her posts.
Gaga's repeated talk of motherhood
The clearest signs pointing to a baby were Gaga's own comments since her engagement about wanting to start a family. During an October 2025 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she said motherhood would be her "next starring role."

"I would like to do many things, yeah, all of these things," she said after Colbert asked whether she planned to keep acting or performing on Broadway. "But, what I really want is to be a mom. That's my next starring role, I hope."

Speaking to the New York Times in March 2025, Gaga said she was "excited to be a mom," even though she "used to have a lot of apprehension about it." "I'm also kind of at war with myself sometimes as I get ready to, hopefully, become a mom soon," she added. "Like, today is wonderful, but the whole day has revolved around me. There's an incredible amount of narcissism in this."

Her plans for motherhood may not stop at one child. "She has only one sister, Natali, and always wanted more siblings. So she wants her children to have many siblings so they can all lean on each other," a source told the Daily Mail.
Wedding plans still up in the air
There is no word yet on when Gaga and Polansky plan to marry, though in March 2026 she indicated a wedding was coming "soon." During an appearance on Bruno Mars's Romantic Radio TikTok Live, she said in a recorded message: "Me and my fiancé have been traveling all year, but we're getting married soon. We were hoping you could choose a special song for us."
In her Colbert interview, Gaga praised Polansky as "my best friend in the whole world," saying he "empowered me as a woman in music with a beautiful partner that has my back every day." "He just blew me away from the minute that I met him," she continued. "He always, I think, really saw me and I think I always really saw him."
Back in October 2024, Gaga told Jimmy Kimmel that she and Polansky were considering an elopement involving "just going to a courthouse, just the two of us, and ordering Chinese food."
