Laura Escanes, the Spanish content creator, has been sharing style inspiration from her summer days on the island of Menorca, and her latest outfit centred on a colourful Missoni caftan. During one of her recent days on the island, she opted for a multicoloured knit caftan from the Italian fashion house that combined comfort with a statement look.
The piece, made from knitted fabric and covered in long fringing, had enough visual presence to be worn largely on its own. Escanes paired it with a natural-fibre tote bag, narrow sunglasses and small gold hoop earrings, creating a relaxed look suited to the Mediterranean setting that avoided the usual summer white dress.

The Missoni Caftan Worn as a Minidress
The piece Escanes chose is Missoni's Layered Fringe Rainbow Chevron caftan, a knitted design featuring striped and zigzag patterns in a mix of pinks, oranges, blues, greens and earth tones.
It is the fringing that transforms the garment, arranged in different bands of uneven lengths that add movement and softly blur the silhouette, particularly when worn the way Escanes did, directly as a minidress.

Escanes's exact caftan is currently sold out, though Missoni's beachwear collection still includes several designs that can achieve a similar effect.
Two Missoni Caftans for a Similar Look
One option is a beach dress priced at 790 euros that draws on the brand's signature zigzag motif. Made in Italy, it features a V-neckline with metallic trim and a loose silhouette with an asymmetric hem. Its mix of pastel tones, orange, brown and turquoise retains the multicoloured effect the house is known for, though in a more refined version without the long fringing seen on Escanes's design.

The second option is a short pareo-style caftan priced at 870 euros. The zigzag print again takes centre stage, this time paired with wide batwing sleeves and a raschel knit construction that highlights the fabric's texture. An open back sets it apart, making it a design particularly suited to wearing over a swimsuit.
Missoni, the Italian fashion house founded in 1953 and known for turning its multicoloured zigzag print into a signature identity, continues to show through these three caftans that its beachwear remains among the pieces that work best by the sea, decades after that motif became part of its brand.
