Ukrainian television presenter Lidiya Taran has shared rare photographs of her daughter Vasylyna on Instagram to celebrate the teenager turning 19 years old.
The teenager is the daughter of Taran and Ukrainian television showman Andriy Domanskyi. Taran posted joint photos with the birthday girl on social media to mark the occasion and show how much her daughter has grown.
Writing on Instagram, Taran addressed her daughter as her dear Vasylyna and wished that a free wind would always be in her hair, freedom in her thoughts, and that her desire to change the world for the better would always find a path. She added that she hoped faithful friends would always be nearby, promising that she would stay close by as well.
Taran relocated to France with her daughter following the start of Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. The move marked a major transition for Taran, a prominent news anchor who had spent years as one of the most recognizable faces on Ukrainian television news broadcasts.
University studies in France
Vasylyna is currently pursuing a degree in political science at a university in France. On her birthday, she gave her mother the choice of visiting her, while noting that her schedule for the day was already filled with academic lectures and social activities with friends.
Taran recalled her daughter telling her that she could come and congratulate her, but warning that she had university classes until the evening followed by plans with friends. Vasylyna added that she and her fellow students were also busy representing their Ukrainian student association at the university during the day.
Political science degree programs in European universities focus on international relations, governance, and public policy, attracting students interested in public service and diplomacy. Despite the distance and busy student schedule, Taran indicated that she remains closely involved in her daughter's life as Vasylyna continues her education abroad.
