How is the routine of a Brazilian influencer at Paris Fashion Week

Isabela Simões shows behind the scenes of one of the most glamorous and controversial events on the planet

Every influencer’s dream is to participate in a fashion week. Not as a mere spectator, but on the red carpet, among the public of VIPs at fashion shows, in showrooms and at brand parties.

Isabela Simões is among the privileged with special access to this selective universe. In early March, you attended Paris Fashion Week, one of the most important events on the fashion calendar.

The young social media celebrity reports to the TV room – with exclusive photos – what he experienced in the recent marathon in the European capital of Haute Couture. There is a lot of glamour, but also heavy investment and hustle and bustle.

Have you always dreamed of working in fashion?

My interest started when I was still a child. I organized fashion shows with scraps I found at my grandmother’s house. She sewed very well and kept the materials in a trunk. I loved that game of creating looks. I too dreamed of being a singer.

When did you realize you were an influencer?

On Facebook, people started replaying my photos. I have always enjoyed taking different and creative photos, and followers have enjoyed following and been inspired by them. Since then, partnerships and paid jobs have emerged.

What is prepping for a Fashion Week marathon like?

It is arduous and laborious. I usually travel with a team of three: a photographer, a personal assistant and a stylist. Always hire a local driver to make getting around easier. I take an average of 30 looks and do fittings (try on pieces invited by brands). Participating in a Fashion Week requires a minimum expenditure of 70k, it is a high investment.

How is the agenda for a day at the event?

Early in the morning, my stylist brings me strong coffee without sugar to wake me up feeling good (laughs). Then I prepare the makeup and hair, which must match the concept of the look she will wear on the show. I already leave everything organized the day before. Between one show and another, it is sometimes necessary to change to the car, where I have set up a real headquarters, with everything I may need. Since I have several appointments in the same day, I try to change clothes and change my hairstyle.

What’s your record for shows in one season in one city?

On average, I go to 23 shows every fashion week. I’ve been to six in one day! There are so many that I end up losing count (laughs).

How do you rate Paris Fashion Week? Is it your favorite fashion week?

Paris Fashion Week is a show of beauty, starting with the Eiffel Tower, postcard of the city and always enchanting. I love all Fashion Weeks, each has its own difference. Only this year I attended New York FW, Milan FW and Paris FW.

Do you shop based on what you see at the shows?

More important than following trends is trying to feel good and accept yourself. From there, wear what really fits your style. In addition to attending the fashion shows, I visit the brand showrooms to always stay in tune.

How does it feel to stand in front of the battalion of photographers and videomakers and the public waiting for the VIPs?

I feel flattered to be a part of all of this. Being with big names in fashion and art shows me that I’m on the right track.

Which celebrities have you met at fashion shows? Have you talked to anyone?

I made friends with Giancarlo Giammetti, co-founder of Valentino, one of the brands I consume the most. I met the German influencer Leonie Hanne, an important reference in fashion. I also met David Beckham, Victoria Beckham, Carolina Herrera, Giorgio Armani, Camila Coelho, Camille Razat (the Camille from “Emily in Paris”), among others.

What are your favorite brands and designers?

My favorite brand is Chanel, because I really admire the story of the founder and I love the pieces. My favorite stylists are Coco Chanel, Valentino Garavani and the Brazilian Reinaldo Lourenço.

What dream do you want to realize as an influencer?

I have a big project to write a book and launch makeup products created from what I use and like best.

Which brand or stylist would you choose to create your wedding dress?

American designer Vera Wang, for sure.
