According to economics professor at the Álvares Penteado School of Commerce Foundation, Nadja Heiderich, Easter eggs cost more due to inflation left over from the pandemic.
“This inflationary component hasn’t passed yet, which ends up having an impact on the industry. Also, we had a big dollar rise last year, which may have impacted the buying of imported inputs,” he says.
Although, at this moment, the dollar is gradually weakening, preparations for egg production began months ago, not giving time to make the effect of this drop in the exchange rate felt. “There is still pressure on cocoa pricesdue to increased seasonal demand,” he adds.
