Katsu sando: the famous sandwich of Latin America will be served to Nelita

Tássia Magalhães brings the chef to the Argentinean Niño Gordo for a unique lunch, which will take place next Sunday (7pm) and will have limited spaces.

In July of last year, Tássia Magalhães took her mother to visit Buenos Aires. What would have been a weekend of rest, turned into a gastronomic marathon. In large part, due to her meeting with colleagues Germán Sitz and Pedro Peña.

Restless and creative, the chefs are among the great entrepreneurs of Buenos Aires gastronomy. They started in 2015 with La Carnicería, a parrilla that gave a new look to the traditional “asado” (Argentine barbecue), always prepared with meat from the pastures of a cooperative in La Pampa, not surprisingly founded by the family of Jewish immigrants from German .

The same raw material, noble and ethical, appears in the duo’s other activities in Palermo (the Juan Pedro Caballero taqueria, the Paquito tapas bar, the Chori snack bar) and in particular in the Niño Gordo case – probably the most Instagrammed restaurant in Argentina capital.

Among the biggest hits of the Asian-inspired house is the katsu sando, made with tender chorizo steak and Japanese-style brioche, typical of Hokkaido. For the first time, the main course sandwich will be served in Brazil. By the way, she is the star of the exclusive lunch menu on the 19th, from Nelita, in Baixo Pinheiros.

“Katsu sando’s meat comes from an animal specially created to give us these conditions of high tenderness, which simulates the texture of our very tender shockupan. Wasabi and soy,” explains Sitz.

The special Sunday menu will cost R$ 250 and also includes a foie gras snack, chinchulin and shrimp ravioli, vanilla tomato, spinach fish curry and double duck and corn ravioli. “I made this double ravioli to serve to Niño last September and was waiting for the right moment to serve it to Nelita,” says Tássia, who will close the event with a dessert made in her brand new bakery, Mag Market. Namely, a sweet peach and gorgonzola choux.

More than following the trend of gastronomic collaborations, “having a friend like Germán means less imagining dishes together and more maintaining harmony in the menu and in the kitchen – because before the shot you have to help clean up the mess”, reveals the Virginian chef. Seating for the unprecedented event is limited and reservations are strongly recommended. Last warning: the normal house menu will be suspended on date.

Nelita Rua Ferreira de Araújo, 330, Baixo Pinheiros. from Tuesday to Friday from 19:00 to 23:00; Saturday 1pm to 4pm and 7pm to 11pm, Sunday 1pm to 5pm. Capacity: 56 seats. Wifi. Wheelchair accessible.
