A National Integrative Health Agency (ANS) temporarily suspended the sale of 32 health insurance for customer complaints relating to the assistance coverage offered by eight operators. The announcement of the provision, which will enter into force on the 29th, was released by ANS itself this Friday 24th, together with the list of floors that will see their sale prohibited (see list below).
According to ANS, the decision falls within the scope of Monitoring Guarantee Services, an agency activity that monitors the trend of the sector and also protects consumers.
The list of plans and operators whose marketing will be suspended was defined on the basis of the complaints of beneficiaries presented during the 4th quarter of 2022. Between 1 October and 31 December last year, 42,043 complaints were registered, more than 510 per day.
The monitoring takes into account the critical issues relating to the non-compliance with the maximum terms for consultations, examinations and surgical interventions, even when the operator presents any denials of assistance coverage.
The hobs, as the agency specifies in a note, “can be resold to new customers only if the operators present an improvement in the result of the monitoring”. According to ANS data, 436,526 beneficiaries will be directly affected by the measure.
The National Integrative Health Agency has also released a list of seven plans that have been suspended and that could be marketed again after the release of the Monitoring Guarantee Services (see also below).
