Flatulence of unknown paternity, which is always attributed to innocent pets; the classic “my dog/cat ate my homework”; the event of a broken object for which the animal ends up taking the blame. After all, who hasn’t used their pet as an alibi? This situation requires, at the very least, some sort of punishment.

And right on this April Fool’s Day, Petlove launched a campaign for tutors to confess what lies they have already told about their pets. The aim of the campaign is to encourage people to reward their pets for their loyalty by giving them items aimed at their enjoyment, such as accessories, toys, snacks and sachets.

April Fools’ Day has good reason to be celebrated by pet parents, as another very common scenario is random lies told by tutors to their pets, aiming for their well-being and health.

The lies that everyone tells

Visits to the vet disguised as walks; the “I’ll be right back” which lasts a whole day; snacks that are actually medicine. According to a survey carried out by Petlove with its community, 73% of tutors have already been forced to tell a lie to their pets. The bottom line is this: pets really need to be rewarded for their guardians’ lies.

“We know that pets unite and generate exchanges between people. We also understand that good and funny little lies are part of the routine of those who have a pet: whether we tell them with a view to their well-being or we use them as an alibi in reckless and comical situations. For April 1st, in addition to launching a humorous film, we have created a campaign with different developments with the aim of involving people in this conversation. We broadcast a hashtag so that tutors can share their experiences and also a selection of products and discounts for those who want to repay their pets for overcoming these moments without hard feelings or pain, but with lots of love,” explains Filipe Botton , Head of Communication and Brand at Petlove.
