President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva published a message on World Health Day, this Friday (7). “In Brazil, fortunately, we have the constitutional guarantee of a Unified Health System, the SUS, which ensures free access to services to the entire population. And we are constantly striving to transform what our Constitution establishes into ever better services” , he wrote.
“It is about strengthening the SUS, bringing doctors and all health workers to the suburbs of large cities and to distant communities in the Brazilian interior. queues for consultations, exams and elective surgeries and declining vaccination rates,” add the message.
The president also highlighted the importance of the World Health Organization (WHO) and commends the work of the body’s current management, led by the Ethiopian Tedros Adhanom.
“WHO has made an extraordinary contribution to humanity. And it deserves a profound tribute for also celebrating its 75th anniversary this April 7. Therefore, I would like to register my thanks to the Director-General, Tedros Adhanon, for his leadership in front line of the Organization”.
