A cavity it is now one of the most recurring diseases in the world, second only to the flu in the ranking of the most common diseases, more than 2 billion people have the problem according to WHO (World Health Organization). In Brazil, 90% of the population has the disease.

Although tooth decay can be transmitted through kissing, it only develops when the new host has a diet high in sugar and carbohydrates.
Kissing day: watch out for cavities!
Caries is not simply “contracted”, like other diseases such as covid-19, for example. The bacterium is present in our mouth, however, it only manifests itself when it ferments the sugar and the substrate, the ”pee battery”, degrades the tooth enamel. This is where the bacteria enter and feed on the sugars present in the host’s mouth.
In order not to get to the point of having to treat the tooth already with caries, the dentist recommends prevention and dental care. “If the person cleans himself thoroughly and properly, doesn’t ingest large amounts of sugar, he has a very low chance of getting tooth decay,” Marco explains.
To avoid the appearance of cavities, constant visits to the dentist are recommended, for periodic cleanings and to prevent future problems.
