The latest April 3 followed like any other for Anna Marjorie until the host of Globo’s “Bom dia RN” started feeling sick while eating breakfast, shortly after presenting the morning news. The symptoms were common – initially dizziness, very shortness of breath – and for this reason the journalist of Inter TV, a Globo affiliate in Rio Grande do Norte, took a while to seek medical help.

Hours passed before her heart “began to become unbearable” and a friend warned her: “This is not the heartbeat of someone who is at rest,” recalled Anne recounting the episode in an interview with Earth. The presenter still remembers the past of domestic violence — “Pains in the soul, there are moments when you can’t take it anymore, the body somehow screams” –, she tells how the rest period was and reflects on the countless tasks that affect women, all without exception.

Exhausted women!

She sought medical help – first a clinic, then was referred to a hospital – and understood the gravity of the situation. Anne suffered a supraventricular infarction, which is a type of arrhythmia, and not a heart attack as had been reported. This week she underwent catheter surgery to treat the arrhythmia.

“The electro hit 220ms and I thought I was having a little anxiety attack. What happens at that moment? I think it’s a call, especially for we women who live overloaded, that we have a thousand claims, the question of guilt”, he evaluates marking the result of the electrocardiogram.

The role of overload in diagnosis

Vegetarian, does gymnastics, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink coffee. Currently 40, Anne seems to be a good example of how to take care of yourself to avoid health problems. However, her lifestyle didn’t spare her from a heart attack.

The reporter transformed her routine when she took over the presentation of ‘Bom dia RN’. To be on the air at 6 in the morning, she wakes up at 3:30. In this sense, another change was that Anne began to “live on news”. Before being promoted to host Hard News (Hot News), she was all about entertainment.

Mother, worker, housewife…

But she doesn’t blame work, where she says she was welcomed when she suffered from illness. For the journalist, the problem is the overload of requests that affects so many women. In addition to being a presenter, she is the mother of a 20-year-old boy and a 7-year-old boy.

At the same time, Anne also leads the “Hope Movement”, which aims to welcome victims of domestic violence. Speaking with the reporter, she recalled that in the week of the heart attack she was unable to assist a victim – at least not as she usually does, accompanying the process to get help.

Violence against women

Anne Marjorie started the healing project seven years ago when she managed to break the cycle she was a victim of. “I have suffered all kinds of violence: patrimonial, sexual, physical. (…) The damage inside my heart, in my soul, will never be repaired”, she underlines.

As a survivor, she recognizes how difficult it is to deal with this violence, often being discredited by justice and by society as a whole. “My trial has been dismissed a couple of times and I have the investigation report, everything. The world has turned its back on the truth. I was a very strong person, with financial autonomy, I lost everything. (…) So, here are the pains of the soul, there are moments when you can’t take it anymore, the body screams somehow “, he vents.

Rebirth

Today, in a healthy relationship — Anne has been very grateful for her fiancé’s support during this post-heart attack — she enjoys her days off until she returns to work next Monday (17). To take care of herself, the journalist intends to maintain a healthy lifestyle and pay attention to frequent medical checkups.

She comments that women usually do gynecological and breast exams, for example, periodically, but they shouldn’t neglect other areas of the body. This is because, although the surgery was successful, the possibility of a new arrhythmia cannot be ruled out. According to Anne, the procedure called “ablation” through a catheter “burned” the vein that was in disarray, which regulated heartbeats, but did not prevent future problems. You have to be careful.
