Apple TV+: streaming on the rise
After the growing success of streaming made popular by Netflix, many companies have followed the trend. There are of course the big audiovisual groups that have launched their own VOD service: Disney with Disney+, Paramount with Paramount+ and Warner with HBO Max (which will become “Max” in May). However, some companies that were not at all known for the production of films and series in the chain have also swallowed up this business: Amazon with Prime Video and Apple with Apple TV+.
If in recent years there has been a lot of talk about Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ that make streaming rain and shine around the world, we must not forget that Apple TV+ is always lurking to compete with them. Indeed, the service created in 2019 is now present in more than a hundred countries around the world and has attacked a number of celebrities. able to highlight its original contents.
We can thus find Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Evans or even Jason Momoa in new films or series that the service calls Apple Originals. Not to mention that Apple TV + has also signed numerous collaborations with production houses such as A24, Scott Free Production (which belongs to Ridley Scott), Sikelia Productions (by Martin Scorsese) or even Appian Way (by Leonardo DiCaprio). These contracts thus allow the service to keep pace in terms of quality productions as it engages the services of talented creators.
The strategy is proving to be good for now as every year, many of his original programs are inundated with nominations and awards. Among them, we can note such films as USS Greyhound, TAIL AND The Wolf People as well as series such as Ted Lasso AND The morning show.
A historic agreement
If since February 2023 Apple has shown that it can collaborate with French productions through its first original French series Connection (with Eva Green and Vincent Cassel), the service intends to establish itself more sustainably on the French-speaking market. Indeed, as announced by Maxime Saada, chairman of the board of directors of the CANAL+ group, Canal+ and Apple have signed a historic agreementnotably allowing the encrypted channel to be able to integrate Apple TV+ movies and series into its MyCanal streaming service.
This partnership is a perfect way to get back on stage in France. Indeed, the French market is very lucrative for American streaming services. Apple TV+ has understood this perfectly by allowing Canal to include its programs in its catalogue. From April 20, subscribers will therefore be able to enjoy valuable content such as Ted Lasso, Separation, For all humanity, See, The morning show, Tehran, Foundation, Connection or also TAIL. Some Apple TV+ programs such as the movie are also planned Tetristhe SF series Silo (worn by Rebecca Ferguson), the serial adaptation of the manga God’s Drops or the long-awaited The flower moon killers. by Martin Scorsese (which will also be released in theaters). Suffice to say, subscribers will be delighted.
For its part, Canal+ further strengthens its links with streaming platforms since before Apple TV+, the channel already offered its subscribers access to the catalogs of OCS, Disney+, Paramount + or Netflix. However, unlike these, there will be no additional costs by subscribers to view these Apple TV+ shows.
