Anyone who has received at least two doses of monovalent vaccines (Coronavirus, Astrazeneca or Pfizer) in the primary or booster schedule can take the bivalent dose. The most recent dose must have been taken four months ago. Those who have a delayed dose can also look for health principals.

The ministry stresses that the vaccines have demonstrated safety, are effective and avoid complications resulting from Covid-19. The expansion, according to the folder, has “the goal of strengthening protection against the disease and expanding vaccination coverage throughout the country“.

In February, the immunization campaign with the bivalent vaccine was launched, aimed at the elderly aged 60 and over, long-term residents, immunocompromised people, indigenous people, quilombolas, river dwellers, pregnant women and new mothers, health workers, people with disabilities, prisoners and adolescents in socio-educational measures and prison employees.

As of 20 this month, more than 10 million people had already taken up the bivalent booster, including 8.1 million elderly people, according to data released by the ministry.

Rio de Janeiro

The city of Rio de Janeiro has issued a statement stating that all people aged 18 and over will be able, starting Tuesday (25), to take the booster against the bivalent vaccine. “It is necessary to have received at least two doses of vaccine against the disease for more than 4 months,” said the Municipal Health Secretariat.
