The original Quindim has a very controversial origin, full of versions. The most accredited is that it was born in Portuguese convents, from the need of the nuns to exploit the egg yolks that were left over by ironing the clothes. But there are still those who argue that the emergence of Quindim is confused with that of a dessert called this breezevery famous in portugal!

In appearance, the brisa-de-lis could easily be confused with the traditional Quindim. The only difference between them is the presence of almonds, which, in fifteenths, have been replaced by coconut. To innovate even more and guarantee yourself a delicious dessert, it is worth trying the Quindim chocolate! What to say?

Preparation time: 50 min (+2h of fridge)

Performance: 45 units

Difficulty level: easy

Ingredients:

  • 50 sieved egg yolks
  • 1 kg of sugar
  • 1 cup(s) of dried coconut
  • 1 and 1/2 cup coconut milk (300 ml)
  • 1 cup cocoa powder (powdered)
  • sugar for dusting
  • Mint leaves to decorate

Method of preparation:

  1. Mix the egg yolks with the sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Add the coconut, coconut milk, chocolate and mix until smooth.
  3. Put the dough into individual molds greased with margarine and sprinkled with sugar.
  4. Bake in preheated medium oven for 30 minutes or until set.
  5. Remove from the oven, let cool and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  6. Unmould, unmold and serve the quim decorated with mint leaves.
