President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva used social networks to mourn the death of the TV presenter and cook Palmira Nery da Silva Onofre, known as Palmirinha, this Sunday 7.

Lula, who has already returned to Brazil after the coronation of King Carlos III, took the opportunity to send a “brotherly hug” to the family and admirers of the chef.

  • “I am saddened by the news of the death of host Dona Palmirinha, a beloved figure of our television. My fraternal hugs to Palmirinha’s family, friends and fans,” he wrote.

The cook died this Sunday morning, aged 91. According to Palmirinha’s family, the death occurred as a result of worsening chronic kidney problems. The presenter had been hospitalized in the Paulista Unit of the Alemão Oswaldo Cruz Hospital since 11 April.

The vigil will take place on Monday (8), at Morumby Cemetery, from 9am to 5pm, and will be open to the public from 11am to 1pm. Burial will be reserved only for friends and relatives.
