Some attitudes help prevent the signs of aging from appearing
From the age of 30, the skin begins to undergo a natural aging process. In this phase, structural changes to the skin occur, such as a decrease in the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in a loss of elasticity and firmness. Furthermore, cell renewal is slower, leading to the accumulation of dead cells and the appearance of fine lines. For these reasons, the demand for aesthetic procedures before the age of 30 is increasing.

Aging will happen anyway, according to dermatologist Dr. Renato Soriani, an SBD member and dermatologist technology expert. In this sense, however, he claims that we can prevent and fight the signs of ageing, such as expression lines and blemishes, while maintaining the health of the skin tissue.
“Dermatologist-guided preventive interventions bring more natural, structural, functional and aesthetically elegant results. Furthermore, continuous visits to the doctor help prevent skin diseasesmainly with the treatment of precancerous lesions”, emphasizes the professional.
Below, understand the main reasons that make prevention the best strategy to prevent premature aging!
The importance of using sunscreen
Living in a tropical country has its perks, but our skin can suffer from high levels of ultraviolet radiation. “Filter protection [solar] must be effective against UVA and UVB radiation; when they hit unprotected skin, these rays cause cumulative damage that causes photoaging, with the early appearance of wrinkles, spots and sagging, as well as precancerous skin lesions,” explains dermatologist Dr. Lilian Brasileiro, member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology .
Therefore, according to the doctor, it is important to use sunscreens with an SPF of at least 30. If the product has antioxidants, this can be an additional advantage for avoid the damage that can reach the skin.
Additionally, the practitioner also advises avoiding direct sun exposure after 10am until 4pm, “to avoid oxidative damage and the production of enzymes that degrade collagen, inflame tissue, and can make skin tissue more susceptible to injury and disease,” he adds.
Increase collagen production
It’s hard to look at a 25-year-old person and say they’re starting to do that age, as this will only become clear later, according to Dr. Renato Soriano. “But scientific studies have already warned us that there is a decline in collagen production from the age of 25 and, subsequently, there is a reduction in cellular metabolism,” he explains.
As the doctor explains, collagen is a protein naturally present in the body. Therefore, “eating well is important, but the stimulus for the construction of collagen, which is linked to the firmness and elasticity of the skin, is given through beauty treatmentssuch as lasers, ultrasound, radiofrequency and injectable biostimulators,” he points out.
Prevention postpones the most invasive interventions
The sooner you take care of yourself, the less cosmetic surgery that will need to be done in the future. “To the skin care, antioxidants and regenerating acids can be used under medical advice. But the most important thing is to use sunscreen daily,” comments Dr. Lilian Brasileiro.
In some cases, botulinum toxin can be indicated preventively, according to the doctor: “since it temporarily paralyzes the muscles, there is a preventive effect of demarcating wrinkles. This prevention with the use of botulinum toxin is more indicated when the patient has a discreet , thin skin, very strong facial expressions and always makes an involuntary ‘grimace’, for example,” he points out.
May create collagen savings
Collagen production is like tending an orchard: you need to provide nutrients and stimuli for it to bear fruit, according to Dr. Renato Soriano. “Such collagen savings can be achieved by means of treatments that have zero recovery times, i.e. they don’t interfere with daily activities, they don’t leave the skin red or bleeding,” he says.
An important technology is ultra-focused ultrasound, which delivers thermal coagulation points in a series of lines at two depths: deep dermis and in the muscle layer – SMAS (muscular aponeurotic system). “Heating occurs in the dermis and superficial muscle aponeurotic system (SMAS) via coagulation points. This stimulus is responsible for the increased natural production of collagen for the next three months,” concludes the doctor.
