The production of ‘Natura Viva’ takes place in the Sicily region
An olive oil produced in the town of Bronte in Sicily has been voted the best in the world in a contest in the United States.
The Italian Manfredi Barbera is responsible for the production of the extra virgin “Natura Viva”, which is produced at the foot of Etna, the most active volcano in Italy. The organic cultivation of the olives takes place on volcanic soil, at an altitude of about 700 metres.
The product won one of the numerous categories of the Sofia Award, one of the most prestigious in the gastronomy sector.
“It is a pity that we only have 10,000 bottles, we are trying to distribute the oil in small quantities to all those who have requested it. The Etna supply chain will prepare to increase production and better satisfy market demands”, he explained Barbera.
The olive grower specified that the oil is 100% produced with Nocellara Etnea olives, typical of this region of Sicily.
Francesco Costanzo, another olive grower of the award-winning product, explained that his and Barbera’s dream was “to create the Ferrari of oils”. .
