Today, filters are often used to improve the appearance of photographs. It would seem, what could be better? You get an instant image upgrade without any effort or tricks. However, in fact, it is the same substitute as instant noodles – a semblance of synthetic food. An expert told VOICE how to gain self-confidence without these dodgy “helpers”.
Life in two dimensions: why filters are dangerous
The filters create such a sharp difference between the reflection in the mirror and the image in the photo that it turns out to be a kind of perception gap, in which your psyche is torn into fragments. A similar dissonance occurs under the influence of drugs, when the sensations received during their use are almost impossible to integrate into reality.
Of course, filters work less explicitly, but afterwards they have no less destructive effect. You convince your subconscious that you’re not good enough, that your appearance is a wilted flower that’s nothing without photoshop.
For this reason, the insufficiency syndrome within you is simply growing in heaven. You consider yourself not too thin, handsome, tall, young, intelligent, self-confident, spontaneous, brilliant. To these obviously negative characteristics are added deeper doubts that you are a good mother and an exemplary wife.
It turns out that life is in two dimensions: in the invented world of photography and in the cruel reality. These spheres, which were so close to each other at the beginning, when you “just took a photo for memory”, begin to diverge in different directions.

The negative influence of the illusory world
What does an uncontrolled desire to beautify oneself and the surrounding reality lead to?
Selfie craze
The first thing that happens to you is the desire to immerse yourself in your fantasies, brighter and more beautiful than real life. You start getting stuck on social media, spending all your free time not in the park or the theater, but on the phone. After all, even a trip to a cultural event or a walk turns into an opportunity to take more selfies using filters.
Waste of time in social networks and instant messaging
Little by little, the connection with the body, sensuality and ecstatic sexuality is lost, and you enter the feigned world of artificial images.
How to control it to be able to stop in time? Try counting the number of hours you spend online. Most likely, you will be very surprised that there are so many, but then there will be a desire to introduce restrictions.
Self-loathing, addiction to beauty treatments
Once looking at yourself through the prism of the filter, it is very difficult to enjoy the reflection you see in the mirror. Moreover, the women look in each of them, even in the window panes! So you’re constantly reminding yourself that you’re not good enough and that you need to fix the āimageā.
Hence this crazy growth of the beauty industry, which only interferes with female vulnerability. This method of violence has found a weak link and is successfully torturing the beautiful half of humanity with its “services”.
Looking at your image, processed with filters, and then at the reflection in the mirror, you involuntarily come to the conclusion that you can correct your cheekbones, lips, nose, remove wrinkles, tighten your eyelids, etc. to infinity. Can you imagine what a state of self-criticism and eternal rejection your inner world and mind is in?
Problems with hormones
Nothing destroys the psyche, and even life itself, like the inability to experience satisfaction. Being in a constant feeling of discontent and self-sacrifice, you not only live in a state of mental disorder, but also age faster, because the hormonal sphere loses a healthy balance.
There is only one way out – what might be called a return from the mind to the body. It is featured in various trainings and has been helping women find each other for many years.
A unique technique to increase self-esteem: 3 tips from an expert
If you use filters for photos, it means that doubts about your own attractiveness still exist. How to get rid of them? A few simple guidelines will help you get in touch with yourself.
Tip 1. Learn how to return to your body from the dream world. This is done in the morning while you are still in bed. The habit of waking up correctly is the key to a successful day.
Place your right hand in the center of your chest and your left hand on your lower abdomen. Take a deep breath as you feel your palms lift. Exhale with the sound “haaa” and say to yourself: “Hello my body” and “I love you my body”. Repeat this action 3 times. It’s a nice and sweet way to get into reality.
Tip 2. Instead of exercising, just dance – it’s very important for women! It is dancing that is recognized as the most useful form of physical exercise. It helps the body to return to an active state not in an orderly fashion, as it happens in the gym, but in a delicate format of awakening with pleasure.
Tip 3. Special female meditations have existed for a long time and differ fundamentally from those of men in that they take physiological processes into account.
It is not meditation to calm the mind, which is ineffective, and not everyone can do it. It’s a way to connect to the body, to the inner world, to take root in one’s nature. It includes a small movement, a breath and a sound.
Such a complex creates a positive effect, confirmed by numerous experiments. As a result, you feel the integrity of your body, an inexhaustible resource and a will to act.
You will see, in this new life it will no longer be necessary to replace the feeling of true self-confidence with constant control and additional technical means. Here you can still be yourself and easily play in the picture, but not become a hostage!
