What am Iyengar yoga?

Iyengar Yoga is one of several modalities of Yoga based on the teachings of Master BKS Iyengar.

It is a modality whose main objective is to bring Yoga closer to anyone, regardless of the difficulties with physical exercises.

In this practice, the asanas they are taught with great technical rigor and focus on alignment.

Differences from Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar Yoga also differs from other modalities by encouraging the use of external materials during the practice of asanas, allowing to overcome some obstacles.

With the use of scene objects (one of the supporting materials of Yoga)the Iyengar method increases the possibility of permanence in the asana, which increases student confidence.

You scene objects (as pictured below) work as “assistant teachers”. They are blocks, cushions, belts, planks and chairs that help entry into the postures while respecting individual limits by extracting the necessary alignment and balance from the practitioners.
