CrossFit and bodybuilding are the “favorite” activities when it comes to getting that dreamed “shape”. Isn’t that it? The difference is in the time to evaluate the objectives, i.e. physical condition, medical condition and experience before choosing one of these modalities. Differences

CrossFit is based on exercises with accessories and equipment, examples: barbells, dumbbells, ropes or using only body weight. Classes consist of a “mix” of functional, aerobic and bodybuilding practices. Its circuit is constantly changing and practitioners must respect the order of the activities. The steps are high-intensity, target many muscle groups throughout the day, and adaptable for beginners.

Bodybuilding also depends on the accessories and gym equipment to be practiced. The difference is that bodybuilding training is usually personalized because the order and timing of the exercises vary according to each student’s profile. Only one muscle group can be worked per day.

“This modality is the most suitable for those who do not like or cannot practice high intensity exercises. The teacher can adapt the training with fewer repetitions and lighter weights for the person who still does not have good physical preparation, needs to muscle strengthening or flexibility improvement”, assures Marques.

Goals defined

The personal goal must be clear before choosing physical activity. Both crossfit and bodybuilding improve calorie burning and muscle growth. Crossfit directs the focus on gaining muscle and bodybuilding is all about losing fat mass, losing weight and gradually gaining muscle mass.
