Understanding the study, which says exercise reduces the risk of Parkinson’s for women

This allegation that exercise reduces the risk of Parkinson’s for women comes from research of French origin and is available in Revista Neurology, in the United States. The people involved in this experiment used data from approximately 95,000 women participating in the E3N study, who answered exercise questionnaires over the years.

The women involved in this experiment averaged over 49 years of age over 30 years. Participants who exercised the most had a 25% lower risk of this disease. A feat that is still celebrated with caution. Nothing prevents other investigations from being born to improve corporate prevention strategies.

The doctor’s point of view on this study

In an interview for Jornal da USP (University of São Paulo), the doctor and head of the Vascular Neurology and Neurological Emergencies service at the Hospital das Clínicas of the FMRP (Ribeirão Preto School of Medicine), Octávio Pontes Neto, celebrated this fact.

And he also said that the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease usually start mildly and gradually and can vary from one person to another. His main motor symptoms are tremor (usually starting in one hand), muscle stiffness, bradykinesia (slow movements), difficulty initiating and controlling movements, and changes in posture and balance.

Another addition from the professional is that non-motor symptoms may occur, examples: depression, sleep disturbances, memory problems and difficulty controlling blood pressure.

Given away

The WHO (World Health Organization) has reported that approximately 1% of the world’s population over the age of 65 lives with Parkinson’s. The estimate for the Brazilian population is that 200,000 people face the problem.
