The fashion show of the Italian brand Fendi, last Thursday evening (6), closed the Paris fashion week by showing its first collection of fine jewelry, which adds to the already traditional haute couture costumes of the brand.
Celebrities such as Naomi Watts, Suki Waterhouse, Zoe Saldana, Lily James, Shakira and Camila Cabello attended the launch of the 2023/24 collection, held at the Palais Brongniart, a historic building and former headquarters of the stock exchange in the French capital.
The jewelry collection was designed by Delfina Delettrez Fendi, fourth generation heir to the brand’s founders.
Fendi’s artistic director, Kim Jones, described the choices for the season as follows: “We decided to focus on the fluidity and techniques of haute couture. We worked starting from the high jewelery of Delfina, which inspired the color palette of clothes and accessories. Even the costumes convey the idea of the jewel”.
“The colors come from natural tones like those of the stones: black diamonds, rubies, sapphires. It’s a game of hard and soft, flesh and stone,” he concluded.
Light, voluminous, fluid and easy-to-wear outfits paraded on the catwalk. Present the drape, trademark of the British designer, as well as sculptural shapes obtained through cutting and sewing techniques. It took 1,200 hours of craftsmanship to construct the dress’s ultimate runway show, marked by a pink glow. .
