The prequel to the now legendary Game of Thrones series, House of the Dragon, has been renewed for a second season without hesitation after the overwhelming success of the first season. Fans parted ways with the heroes at the most interesting place and can’t wait to continue. Most likely, we’ll see it in 2024. Here’s what we know so far.
The action of “House of the Dragon” takes place two centuries before the events of “Game of Thrones” and focuses on House Targaryen – the ruling dynasty of Westeros plunges the country into civil war due to its inability to resolve peacefully the problem of who should inherit the throne after King Viserys I (Paddy Considine.
‘House of the Dragon’ will continue to be based on the book ‘Fire and Blood’ by George Martin
Apparently, the second season will pick up exactly where the action left off in the first season.
“Season 1 has set the stage for a very bloody feast to come,” said show co-creator Ryan Kondal. “The reason I really wanted to spend our time on this is because I wanted everyone to understand who all of these characters were and what a long, convoluted story they had before they killed each other. . I I’m really interested in learning more about all the characters we’ve been dreaming up all this time, especially the Reynira and Alicent families.”
The second season, adds Kondal, will “in many ways” continue to be the story of the relationship between Alicente and Reynira, who were friends – and became bitter rivals.

In April 2023, Kondal said: “I’m happy to pick up where we left off. Now we can dive into more traditional storytelling beats. George Martin himself said it was a Shakespearian or Greek tragedy. This is the story of a family torn apart from within. Now that all the pieces are on the board, I’m very excited to tell the next chapter to see what happens now that Viserys is gone. and no longer keeps his loved ones online.”
