“Self-care is not a luxury and it is not selfish. It is a necessity that we must keep our body and mind refreshed. Remembering that they are our tools for experiencing the things we want,” guaranteed Sley.

Thus, Tanigawa’s positioning reinforces the need for a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and seeds, hydration with a preference for water, and an exercise routine. But this is where the importance of sport comes into play.

“A large part of the pillars of self-care go through the act of moving the body and we know that the benefits are enormous. It is also important to talk about the effects of a sedentary lifestyle as a whole, which ends up affecting the whole body, worsening the quality of life and even shortening the lifespan,” explained Paulo.

So, once you think about an exercise routine, there is a chance to improve the control of metabolism, all organs, a better quality of life and avoid the leading cause of death in the world, which is coronary heart disease, as well as degenerative diseases: examples: Alzheimer’s and premature aging.

“Those who exercise are much better at coping with stress, anxiety, depression, panic syndrome and burnout than those who are inactive. It is now known that all medical specialties need to have sports medicine knowledge, because in all specialties, physical activity will work as an adjunct to treatment,” Zogaib explained.

Balance as an option to feel good

Have you found a way to be at peace with life? Excellent! Now don’t forget that “middle ground”. If there is excess in any sport, “overtraining” will do great damage to your health.

“It is important for us to take a break, rest and relax. We don’t have to be in productive mode all the time and enjoy life intensely. Having these breaks to recover is very important, there is even a term called sensory break,” concluded Dr. Sley Tanigawa.

At the same time, physical inactivity is not a good choice. After all, this denotes the absence of a number of enzymes, which directly affect the hormone production process.

“Less physical activity, fewer hormones, which can cause hypothyroidism, worsening diabetes, increased cholesterol, atheroma and blocked arteries,” concluded Dr. Paul Zogaib.
