Onion Rings – Fried, baked onion rings

  • 1 piece(s) of onion, cut into rings about 1 cm
  • 1/2 cup(s) of wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon (s) (coffee) of turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (coffee).
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 egg(s) (whites only)
  • 1/2 cup(s) panko flour or breadcrumbs
  • olive oil, for greasing and browning the onion rings

PREPARATION:

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

2 Clean the onion, peel it, cut it into slices of about 1 cm and separate the rings. Put it in a bowl full of water and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.

4. Sort out the remaining recipe ingredients and utensils.

PREPARATION:

Breaded Onion Rings (baked):

1. Put the wheat flour in a deep dish and add the smoked paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, salt and pepper and mix well.

2. In another deep dish, lightly beat the egg white, without forming foam.

3. Put the panko or breadcrumbs on a third plate.

4. Remove the onion rings from the water and dry them with a paper towel.

5. Pass the rings, first in the wheat flour and shake off the excess.

6. Then dip into the egg white, tapping off the excess.

7. Finally, dip the rings in the panko or breadcrumbs, covering and pressing to set.

8. Grease one or more non-stick trays with a drizzle of olive oil.

9. Arrange the onion rings on the baking sheet without stacking them.

10. Bake at 200°C.

11. Bake for about 20 minutes until the rings are golden brown and crispy.

Onion rings (onion rings) without frying, in the oven:

1. Make sure the onion rings are golden brown.

2. Turn off the oven.

FINISHING AND ASSEMBLY:

1. Arrange the breaded no-fry onion rings (onion rings) on a serving platter, or if you prefer, arrange them on plates, next to the main course.

2. Alternatively it can be served in bowls or baskets to accompany sandwiches and snacks.
