Managing the house becomes much easier when you simply take off all your clothes in the evening and throw them in the laundry basket.
However, some items are damaged by frequent washing – these are the ones you shouldn’t throw in the washing machine too often.
jeans
Jeans are pants that millions of people around the world wear every day. However, if you wash them every time you wear them, you’re definitely going too far. According to Max Ciampi, director of a men’s clothing company, exposure to water and detergent destroys denim fibers, and jeans should be washed after five to six days of wear or when they become visibly dirty.
Interesting fact: as a study by specialists from the University of Alberta showed, even after 15 months of wearing, harmful bacteria do not appear on jeans. However, this is definitely not a reason to wash them once a year!
Bra
Your bra’s fabric and underwires can be damaged by the washing machine’s drum, so Laundry and Dry Cleaning founder Rick Rome recommends storing them by hand. You definitely don’t need to do this every day – once every two or three days is enough, unless, of course, it is sports, active physical work or heat, leading to sweating increased.

Sweaters
Pilling, warping, shrinkage, all this awaits a sweater washed too often. Wool or cashmere items, according to Champi, require the same program as jeans, and you can also keep them cool by airing them out or using… the freezer!

Outerwear
Champi advises washing coats and jackets as rarely as possible – only if contamination becomes noticeable and it is no longer possible to limit yourself to cleaning a separate area. “Washing can reduce the ability of these items to retain heat, rob them of their water-repellent properties and damage fittings,” says Max.
Swimwear
According to Rome, you should only wash swimsuits immediately after use if you’ve been swimming in salt or chlorinated water. If the pool or pond was cool, it’s best to just rinse it and let it dry – this will help slow the fabric from warping and fading.
