“Red meat, for example, is rich in cysteine, an amino acid that participates in the structure of hair and contributes to the maintenance of pigmentation and shine,” says Maristela Bassi, nutritionist and women’s health specialist at the University of São Paulo (USP).
It then lists the nutrients, their respective benefits for hair, and the foods we should eat to get them. Watch!
1. Iron
Iron is one of the most important components for hair health. Nutrient deficiency, even in the absence of anemia, is associated with widespread hair loss.
Sources: red meats, such as liver and veal, egg yolks, legumes (beans, peas, lentils, chickpeas), dark green vegetables and açaí.
Tip: combine these foods with sources of vitamin C (orange, lemon, acerola, among others) for enhanced action.
two. Beta carotene
It acts in the fight against inflammatory processes (seborrheic dermatitis).
Sources: It is found in orange-colored foods, such as carrots, pumpkin and papaya.
3. Zinc
Important mineral for the growth and development of hair and nails.
Sources: meat, eggs, fish, brewer’s yeast, oil seeds, whole grains.
4. Biotin (vitamin B8)
Fundamental for hair development. Its deficiency is associated with diffuse alopecia (partial or total reduction of hair in a specific area of the skin) and depigmentation of hair.
Sources: fish (tuna and salmon), egg yolks, yogurt, avocado, nuts and mushrooms.
In addition to balancing your menu with related suggestions, keeping your body hydrated is essential for overall health. Water is the fuel needed for the body to function properly.
