OR Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJSP) established that the activist Luisa Mell compensate moral damages for having invaded a home and saved four dogs, without authorization, in 2016. The amount, however, will be reduced from R$60 thousand to R$20 thousand. The decision was published in the electronic Gazette of Justice this Monday 25th.

“I hope that in the next instance we will make a decision in favor of animal protection, because there is no point in people harassing me and I can’t do anything. If the animal is dying, there will be no time to wait for judicial authorization to help him”, said Luisa al Folha de S. Paulo.

In addition to the fine, the activist was also ordered to remove all publications relating to the case from his social networks.

“It is proven that he received treatment from his guardian, according to the documents collected in the documents, such as: vaccination card, surgery certificate, medical prescription and tests carried out […] I reject the argument that the animals needed immediate rescue and that two of them died because they were poorly cared for and sick,” he concluded in his vote.
