Bruno De Luca speaks for the first time about Kayky Brito’s accident: “Great anguish”

Bruno De Luca broke his silence, two months after Kayky Brito’s investment, and revealed that he is under psychiatric treatment. The actor admitted that the tragedy had negatively affected his mental health, especially having witnessed the accident, which occurred in the early hours of September 2 in Rio de Janeiro. Bruno and Kayky were celebrating happy moments in their lives when the night took a tragic turn. The trauma led Bruno to seek professional help, where he was diagnosed with dissociative amnesia, a disorder that affected his ability to discern and cohere that night.

The topic was addressed by De Luca in an extensive text shared on his Instagram this Friday afternoon (11/3), in which the host revealed the anguish he is facing. “Since September 2, I have been in great anguish. My main concern was Kayky’s health,” he said. He also said he had maintained constant contact with Kayky’s family and had communicated with the actor since he was discharged and regained access to his mobile phone. “That calmed my heart,” he said.

Too much alcohol

He detailed how the celebration of the fateful night turned into tragedy due to too much alcohol. “Unfortunately, all this excitement made us drink too much and this excess turned the celebration into a tragedy,” she lamented.

State of shock and amnesia

De Luca confessed that the incident left him in a state of shock, compromising his capacity for discernment and coherence. “I was completely out of control and mentally shaken,” he said. According to him, Dr. Júlia Fandiño, a psychiatrist who followed him, diagnosed him with “mental confusion during a traumatic experience, which evolved into dissociative amnesia”.

De Luca explained that he did not help Kayky at the time of the accident because he had completely lost track of what was happening. “I remember some flashes of the last moments of that night: saying goodbye to Kayky, turning to pay the bill, a loud noise, someone being thrown. From then on, only screams and confusion,” he said. “In my head I had witnessed a death. All these events that night affected my ability to discern and coherence.”

He reiterated that that night the perception of reality was distorted and he only became aware of what happened through information portals. “Of course, if I had had the choice, my reaction would have been different,” De Luca reflected, expressing regret for not having acted differently at that critical moment.

Thanks to the driver

De Luca also expressed gratitude to the app driver who helped Kayky. “I want to thank Diones for providing me with her help in a timely manner. That night she was an angel and saved my friend’s life,” he thanked.

Kayky Brito, known for his performances in soap operas such as “Chocolate com Pimenta” and “O Beijo do Vampiro”, suffered fractures in his legs and pelvis, as well as a head injury. After surgery and almost a month of hospitalization, the actor was discharged on September 29th and continues to convalesce at his home.
